Desde 1996 desarrolla una trayectoria como artista visual, curador, editor e investigador, participando en exposiciones individuales y colectivas en Chile y el extranjero. Su obra ha sido presentada en importantes encuentros internacionales, entre ellos la XIII Bienal de La Habana (2019), la XI Bienal de Artes Mediales del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (2013), la XII Bienal de Estambul (2011), la V Bienal del Mercosur (2005) y la VIII Bienal Internacional de Pintura de Cuenca (2004).
Entre 2001 y 2008 integró el equipo fundador del Centro Cultural Matucana 100, donde se desempeñó como curador y coordinador del área de Artes Visuales. En 2009 fue co-curador general de la VII Bienal del Mercosur, realizada en Porto Alegre, Brasil.
Entre 2015 y 2017 participó en la creación del Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Cerrillos y realizó la curatoría de su exposición inaugural, Una imagen llamada palabra (2016). Paralelamente, fue asesor del Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes para la formulación de la Política Nacional de Artes de la Visualidad 2017–2022.
Entre sus proyectos curatoriales más destacados se encuentran Otrxs Fronterxs en el Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (2019), la dirección de arte del Centro para las Humanidades de la Universidad Diego Portales (2018–2021), Qösqo. Documento de viaje de Claudio Pérez en el Museo Histórico Nacional (2022–2023) y Estrella distante. 30 años de coleccionismo estatal en arte contemporáneo en el Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo (2026).

Since 1996, Camilo Yáñez has developed a distinguished career as a visual artist, curator, editor, and researcher, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Chile and abroad. His work has been presented at major international events, including the 13th Havana Biennial (2019), the 11th Media Arts Biennial at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Chile (2013), the 12th Istanbul Biennial (2011), the 5th Mercosur Biennial (2005), and the 8th Cuenca International Painting Biennial (2004).
Between 2001 and 2008, he was part of the founding team of Matucana 100 Cultural Center in Santiago, where he served as Curator and Coordinator of the Visual Arts Program. In 2009, he was appointed Co-Curator of the 7th Mercosur Biennial in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
From 2015 to 2017, he played a key role in the creation of the National Center for Contemporary Art in Cerrillos and curated its inaugural exhibition, An Image Called Word (2016). During the same period, he served as an advisor to Chile’s National Council for Culture and the Arts, contributing to the development of the National Visual Arts Policy 2017–2022.
His most notable curatorial projects include Other Borders at the Museum of Memory and Human Rights (2019), his role as Art Director of the Center for the Humanities at Diego Portales University (2018–2021), Qösqo: A Travel Document by Claudio Pérez at the National Historical Museum (2022–2023), and Distant Star: 30 Years of State Collecting in Contemporary Art at the National Center for Contemporary Art (2026).
